show Abstracthide Abstract
Silver pomfret (Pampus argenteus) was mainly distributed in the coastal waters of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, and is a vital economic fish in these regions. In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in demand for this fish. However, due to overfishing and environmental pollution, the catch of silver pomfret has significantly declined. To address the market gap and restore wild resources, researchers have been studying the cultivation and breeding of silver pomfret since the past century. Over the course of 20 years, our research team has successfully accomplished the artificial breeding of silver pomfret, which now yields nearly 1 million juvenile fish annually. The genome data of silver pomfret can help understand the growth and development, immune and metabolization of this fish, which can provide references for artificial breeding and wild resource recovery.
